SciStarter is a division of Science for Citizens, LLC, whose web presence (SciStarter.com) exists to provide access to the citizen science projects it aggregates for citizen scientists around the world.

The goal of the project was to evaluate the site and the service it provides in order to identify areas of improvements and provide recommendations that the client can implement. A group of five students worked as a team and took on the responsibility of project coordination, documentation, and report generation on rotation.

The project is undertaken in the following phases:

  1. Planning
  2. Interviews, Personas, and Scenarios
  3. Survey
  4. Comparative Analysis
  5. Heuristics Evaluation
  6. Usability Testing
  7. Final Presentation

We have reported back to the client throughout the project delivering a full length report at each of the phases. The following video summarizes the methods and findings, and serves as the executive summary of the entire project.
